Invitation for Umpires for the 2021 World Youth Championships

Deadline: 20 October 2021 (Wednesday) @ 4.00 pm

Dear Friends,

The ITTF Umpires and Referees Committee (URC), in cooperation with the Organising Committee of the 2021 World Youth Championships, cordially invite Member Associations to nominate one or two Blue Badge International Umpires (BB) or Blue Badge in Progress (BBP) for this prestigious event, which will take place in Portugal, under the direction of Portuguese Table Tennis, from 2 - 8 December 2021.

The hospitality starts from lunch on 1 December 2021 through to breakfast on 9 December 2021 for the final day umpires and for all other umpires to breakfast on 7 December 2021. The nominees, or their Associations, are responsible for all related travel and insurance costs. Please note that by submitting a nomination, the Association confirms its responsibility to ensure the nominee has sufficient financial support for airfare. The host will only cover the costs of nominees who are selected as final day umpires.

You may nominate two IUs who have achieved Blue Badge status or are Blue Badge in Progress, at least one of whom must be female. Umpires need to arrive no later than 1 December 2021 and attend the Referee Orientation planned for that evening.

Umpires are required to make their own arrangements for two (2) pre-departure COVID-19 tests: first test 7 days prior to entry and second test within 72 hours prior to flight departure to Vila Nova de Gaia. Fully vaccinated Umpires with the Digital COVID Certificate are not required to take the first test 7 days prior to entry to Portugal - only the test within 72 hours prior to flight departure is required. Umpires shall send the Certificate to the Organiser.

An umpire tested positive will be in isolation for 10 days. After day 10 and showing no symptoms on the last 3 days of isolation, by National Law, umpire will be released of isolation. The umpire is responsible for all the costs associated to the isolation. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Please read carefully the Covid-19 Guidelines which will be available on the Event Page.

Should a nominated umpire require a visa, kindly send relevant details when submitting the nomination (full name as in passport, date of birth, place of birth, passport number, expiry date of passport). A letter of invitation will be provided. Please note that all costs associated with the visa application are the responsibility of the applicant and the issuance of a visa is at the sole discretion of the relevant Consulate or Embassy.

Since this is an open invitation, unfortunately many umpires nominated may not be selected. The selection will be based on geographic boundaries and gender equity. The URC will confirm the selection by no later than 31 October 2021 and an announcement will be made on the ITTF website.

Please complete the attached nomination form and submit it to TTAM via email at (ttammalaysia@gmail.com), copy to State TTA (State endorsement required), Mr. Lee Su Hau (a_lee438@yahoo.com) and Ms. Corrine Wong (corrinewcc@gmail.com) not later Wednesday, 20 October 2021 at 4.00 pm. Late submissions will not be considered.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.
