This course was organized by the Negeri Sembilan Table Tennis Association under the auspices of the ITTF Development Programme, being supported locally by the National Sports Institution of Malaysia and Table Tennis Association of Malaysia. The ITTF-PTT Level one Coaches Course was successfully held from 4th to 8th April 2016. The course conductor was Fan Xiao Jun, a former national player of Malaysia. This was the first time she conducted such course.
Motivation and words of encouragement were given by Madam Christina Chee, the Chair of the Development Committee for the Table Tennis Association of Malaysia on the first day of the course. The organiser and officials were very helpful in giving assistance and support. Similarly all participants were enthusiastic and actively involved in all the practical, theoretical and discussions sessions.
During the Para Table Tennis sessions, all the participants were very fascinated and took the trouble to familiarize themselves with the use of the crutches and wheelchairs. They also learnt how to take care of athletes with disabilities and how to assist them in moving from wheelchairs to places and vice versa.
On 6 April 2016, they celebrated the World Table Tennis Day by having the WTTD One Sport, One Family Team Event after class. First single was the athlete with disabilities from class 1-5, second single the athlete with disabilities from class 6-10 and third single the normal athlete. The participants represented their teams in different categories and they played against those players with the same classification. It was fascinating and fun-filled and the day ended amidst joy and laughter.
