Dear Friends,
The ATTU Technical and Umpires Committee, in cooperation with the Organizing Committee of the Asian Continental Stage of the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships Finals, cordially invite Member Associations of Asia to nominate International Umpires (IU) for this prestigious event, which will take place in Doha, Qatar, under the direction of the Qatar Table Tennis Associations from 7th January to 13th January 2023. A total of 32 overseas International Umpires will be invited. Hospitality in a double room sharing with another umpire starts from lunch on Friday 6th January 2023 through to breakfast on Saturday 14th January 2023. The nominees, or their Associations, are responsible for all related international travel costs to Doha and insurance costs. Each Umpire will receive an honorarium in accordance with ITTF and ATTU guidelines.
Associations may nominate up to three International Umpires. At least one of the nominations should be an International Umpire who has achieved Blue Badge status or Blue Badge in Progress status, with other nominations being International Umpires (White Badge) who has been active internationally for the past two years.
Nominees, or their Associations, are responsible for all related travel to Doha International Airport and insurance costs. Please note that by submitting a nomination, the Association confirms its responsibility to ensure the nominee has sufficient financial support for airfare and if applicable, an additional night’s accommodation, the course and examination fees.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, all participants of the Championships including umpires are required to satisfy the COVID-19 regulations of the government of Qatar. Full vaccination is required for all umpires and valid vaccine certificates must be submitted to the LOC. Further details of requirements will be sent to all selected participants. In case a pre-departure Covid-19 test is needed prior departure from Doha, the cost will be covered by own participants. An umpire tested positive will be in isolation until he/she is tested negative and will be released of isolation. The umpire is responsible for all the costs associated to the isolation.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Should a nominated umpire require a visa, kindly send relevant details when submitting the nomination with full name as in passport, date of birth, place of birth, passport number, expiry date of passport. A letter of invitation will be provided upon confirmation. Please note that all costs associated with the visa application are the responsibility of the applicant and the issuance of a visa is at the sole discretion of the relevant Consulate or Embassy.
All Umpires are expected to arrive sufficiently early to attend the Referee Briefing planned for the evening of Friday 6th January 2023.
This is an open invitation to all member Associations of the ATTU and therefore not all nominated umpires may be accepted. Only nominations submitted by Associations of ATTU by the deadline will be considered. Names of IUs being accepted will be sent to all Associations by Tuesday 15th November 2022.
