The ITTF Umpires and Referees Committee (URC), in cooperation with the Organising Committee of the ITTF World Youth Championships 2023, cordially invites Member Associations to nominate one or two Blue Badge International Umpires (BB) or Gold Badge (GB) for the forthcoming prestigious event in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, from 26 November - 03 December 2023.
Hospitality starts from lunch on 25 November 2023 through to breakfast on 04 December 2023 for the final day umpires and for all other umpires to breakfast on day after the duty ends. The nominees, or their Associations, are responsible for all related travel and insurance costs. Please note that by submitting a nomination, the Association confirms its responsibility to ensure the nominee has sufficient financial support for airfare.
You may nominate up two IUs who have achieved Blue Badge – Gold badge status, at least one of whom must be female. Umpires need to arrive no later than 25th November 2023 and attend the Referee Orientation planned for that evening.
On 24th November 2023 ITTF URC in cooperation with LOC will offer Advanced Umpires Training (AUT) and an Advanced Rules Exam (ARE – online/English, you need to bring your own laptop) and during the event evaluations will take place.
Candidates, who are interested in ARE and/or AUT have to inform -additionally to the online nomination- ITTF URC via email.
Should a nominated umpire require a visa, a letter of invitation will be provided. Please note that all costs associated with the visa application are the responsibility of the applicant and the issuance of a visa is at the sole discretion of the relevant Consulate or Embassy. Since this is an open invitation, unfortunately many umpires nominated may not be selected. Only online nominations submitted by bona fide Member Associations will be considered. The selection will be based on geographic boundaries and gender equity. Any travel restrictions for some countries to Slovenia will also be considered.
The URC will confirm the selection by no later than 20th July 2023 and an announcement will be made to Member Association. This announcement will specify those umpires who are selected only for the first 7 days and those selected for the final 2 days as well. Flights should only be booked after having received the final decision of ITTF URC about the working days (final days yes/no).
